Hou's The Boss

Sad news came from the football world recently on the passing of former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier. Probably his greatest claim to fame came in 2001 when he guided Liverpool to an unprecedented quintuple of titles of the UEFA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, League Cup & Charity Shield; at a time when Liverpool were on the ascendancy and cusp of greatness.

He was also in charge of the French national team during the debacle time of 1993-1994; when they inexplicably failed to qualify for the 1994 World Cup in USA when needing only a point in their final two home games against Israel & Bulgaria; during the David Ginola suicidal pass incident.

After a rather-strange co-managership tenure with Roy Evans; he then took over sole control of Liverpool and slowly ingrained his blend of disciplined and tactically-astute brand of football with them; leading to a glorious time under his era. He had further stints with Lyon & Aston Villa after that.
