In A League Cup Of Their Own

Annihilating the theory that the League Cup is not an important competition; big-spenders Manchester City have obliterated the competition again to reach a stunning 4th final in a row; proving again their all-round dominance and cut-throat nature.

And key to their current success has been John Stones; who seems to have found himself again after a few years seemingly in the wilderness; after a big-money; highly touted move from Everton. His impressive partnership with new signing Ruben Dias has paid dividends; with the club now keeping clean sheets on a regular basis & putting an end to the Nicolas Otamendi-fuelled defensive uncertainty that has plagued their seasons past.

On the other side of the channel; Manchester United are still struggling to reach that level of greatness; with a soul-destroying 4th semi-final loss over the past two seasons; including defeats at that stage in the FA Cup & Europa League as well. Their 0-2 home loss to City has brought a disappointing end to their Carabao Cup campaign; and no less than former legend Roy Keane has called on his club's players to stand up a bit bigger in the vital competitions.
