I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues

Everton continued their abysmal run at Stamford Bridge for the past 26 years; putting in a rather tame performance to fall 0-2 to Chelsea in the battle for the UEFA Champions League places in the top 4 of the English Premiership.

Chelsea; a team in apex form under new manager Thomas Tuchel; displayed three elements that showed their current level: tremendous organisation; controlled possession & searing confidence. For that matter; they deservedly wrested the lead after half an hour thanks to revitalised left-back Marcos Alonso's cross that was turned goalwards by Kai Havertz off an unfortunate deflection by Ben Godfrey.

Around the hour mark; Everton were undone again when Havertz latched onto a through ball to be brought down by Jordan Pickford; thus affording Jorginho to score once again from the penalty spot. Everton; on a strong winning run of their own; looked a tad lethargic & predictable; unable to create the final through ball and with several key players off-form.
