This was the return of David Moyes; who would feel well-accomplished after gaining the upper hand over his fellow nemesis Rafael Benitez when he was at Liverpool. The home side were surprisingly lacklustre in this one; affording West Ham the lion's share of possession & control.
It is no secret now that the strength of West Ham lies in their central midfield duo of Tomas Soucek & Declan Rice; and the two of them were imperious again in this game; dominating the midfield & exerting control.
It was Angelo Ogbonna who rose highest to head in a Jarrod Bowen corner 14 minutes from time that sealed the contest. Even though Everton produced some decent displays from their two wingers Demarai Gray & Andros Townsend; ultimately it was not to be their day.
