London Calling

In a titanic top-4 London derby between West Ham United & Chelsea; it was David Moyes' side that came out on top after a helter-skelter; topsy-turvy match that was another brilliant advertisement for the Premiership.

The Hammers seemed to be giving too much 'respect' to their more illustrious London counterparts in the first half; and their 3-4-2-1 formation looked more like a 5-4-1 at times; as they were sitting too deep & inviting Chelsea to come onto them.

And it was a poor pass from the third-best player in the world Jorginho that sent Edouard Mendy scurrying and conceding a penalty that brought the Hammers back; before Mason Mount scored an accurate volley to restore Chelsea's advantage.

The second half was quite different though; as the Hammers upped both their intensity and the possession; leading to hardworking winger Jarrod Bowen scoring an excellent low drive. The match was still in the balance when substitute left-back Arthur Masuaku; who came on for the injured Ben Johnson; somehow managed to score a fluke cross-shot late in the game. He was in fact waiting for Michail Antonio to make the move before deciding to fire in a cross once afforded the space.

All in all; it was a true David Moyes-type victory; one full of heart & grit; and in the end Chelsea would have wondered how on Earth they managed to lose this one.
