Liverpool played brilliantly for the first 35 minutes; passing the ball with immaculate precision; and another 7-0 rout looked on the cards. But after making a few self-enforced errors; it was Palace who started getting back into the game.
In the second half; Patrick Vieira's men decided to go more direct to alleviate Liverpool's pressing game; and it worked well; as they created several chances through that avenue. However; they were undone by one of the worst refereeing decisions ever; as Diogo Jota's collision with Vicente Guaita was somehow considered a penalty.
