Emiliano Buendia scored a brilliant header from former Everton man Lucas Digne's corner; as the Steven Gerrard-inspired Aston Villa continued their recent resurgence with a 1-0 win at struggling Everton.
To be honest: competitive was high but quality was not; particularly in a first half that saw Villa take the upper hand; with Everton surprisingly not coming out with the intensity inspired by Duncan Ferguson.
Villa were killing Everton all game long with their 3 v 2 advantage in midfield; with Buendia; Phillipe Coutinho & Jacob Ramsey able to find spaces to threaten. Everton did improve in the second half; but their constant wastage of chances was symbolic of their lack of confidence at the moment.
