Daddy Mac Comes Up Big

Kriss Kross may be past the rage; but whether you call him Daddy Mac or Mac Daddy; it was Argentinian star Alexis Mac Allister who came up big with two brilliantly-taken goals that took the Brighton fans out of their seats.

Brighton have been playing beyond belief this season; culminating in their thrilling; last-ditch draw at Chelsea the other week; and their form continued with this superlative performance at Goodison Park.

Rafael Benitez did another strange one: opting for a defensive-oriented 5-4-1 formation playing against Brighton at home; and if that doesn't smack of a defeatist attitude; I wonder what does? Another strange quirk was playing two right-footed players down the left-flank; in full-back Seasmus Coleman & Anthony Gordon; and it wasn't the greatest surprise in the world when it didn't work out.

The midfield duo of Allan & Abdoulaye Doucoure was also over-worked in the middle; having to contend with Brighton's marauding three of Enock Mwepu; Adam Lallana & "best midfielder in the Premiership" Yves Bissouma. Not surprisingly; there was a lack of confidence coursing through the Everton veins; and they were second-best to most of the challenges & loose balls. Dominic Calvert-Lewin may have been back but unfortunately Brighton had the towering 6"6' left-back Dan Burn to deal with his aerial threat.

Thank God for Anthony Gordon; who almost single-handedly saved Everton from the brink of collapse; putting up a spirited performance that saw him claim two goals.
