Sadio Mane was the star of the show in this one. First; he crashed his shot against the post in the very first minute; then later was involved in real drama when he crashed heads with Cape Verde 'keeper Jose Vozinha in a scary; Patrick Battiston-like encounter.
While both players were left dazed & confused; Mane recovered enough to put his team ahead with a typically opportunistic strike; at a time when his team were dominating and the opponents already down to 10 men.
The drama was still not over as Mane; around just five minutes later; seemed unable to shake off the rust and collapsed rather staggeringly; leading to his substitution off. Senegal finally managed to seal the game in stoppage time; when Famara Diedhiou unselfishly teed up substitute Bamba Dieng for the late breakaway.
