Dallas Come Up Maverick

In one of the best games of the National Basketball Association (NBA) so far; the Dallas Mavericks prevailed over the Los Angeles Clippers in a 112-104 humdinger at the Staples Center. These two bitter rivals had actually met just two nights earlier; with the Clippers prevailing in that one; and all eyes were on this re-match to see what was to unfold.

Well what everyone got was a showpiece of a match; as both teams went at each other's throats in a playoff-like atmosphere. The Clippers just about shaded the first half; but you had the feeling they had thrown their best punch; without really knocking the visitors out.

The third quarter became the Luka Doncic v Reggie Jackson showdown; as both point guards went at each other in a dazzling array of moves. And you could sense the Mavericks were the ones with the momentum; as exemplified by Sterling Brown's wild; buzzer-beating three-pointer.

And led by the irrepressible Doncic; the Mavericks maintained that advantage and seemed to have the game sewn up in the dying embers of the match; only for the Clippers to miraculously pull the rabbit out of the fire; with Paul George's inhuman; buzzer-beating baseline three-pointer pulling them from the death.

Alas; it seemed the Clippers had used all their energies in tying the game and sending it into overtime; as in the extra period; it was the Mavericks who put their foot on the accelerator. Kristaps Porzingis came out like a man possessed; and with a number of jump-balls strangely in place; it favored the longer Mavericks in that regard. In the end; the Clippers scored only one point in overtime (a technical at that); but the drama was well before that.
