Allan Saint-Maximin had a blinder; terrorising the Everton defence all night on the left flank; drawing yellow cards on some desperate Everton lunges. And it was no big surprise that he created their go-ahead second goal; accelerating to beat Seamus Coleman on the left before crossing for Ryan Fraser.
In Trippier; Newcastle suddenly have a real weapon on their hands. He is one of the best right-backs in the world and a set-piece specialist. And it was not the greatest surprise when he curled in their brilliant third from a free-kick. His set-piece delivery was brilliant all night; as the 'new David Beckham' also provided the corner that led to Jamal Lascelles' first.
While Newcastle looked inspired by their new signings; conversely Everton sometimes played like a team that didn't know each other; and as they put in their two new players Dele Alli & Donny van de Beek; sadly that may have been true lol. They didn't quite have the cohesion or appetite tonite; and there was a profound lack of confidence after going behind.
