But as the dust began to settle; and the tide began to turn against Vitor Pereira; and it became quite clear they didn't believe in ball-boy-hugging Duncan Ferguson; suddenly it became clear that Lampard would be the man indeed.
The jury is still kinda out on Lampard though: he did decently at Derby County; getting the team to an admirable playoff final ;but the pressure seemed too much for him at Chelsea; with the hunger for success and complex ego of star players eventually taking its toll. It became quite clear he had lost the dressing room during the end of his time there; and there were rumors that his disciplinarian; non-nonsense approach wasn't quire well-received by the Chelsea players.
Well; maybe Everton doesn't have as many egos as Chelsea; so maybe his approach would be better received here; and the pressure and instant need for success wouldn't be there at Everton too. Judging by his intelligence as a central midfielder; you can say he has all the qualities needed for a successful managerial career; ala Josep Guardiola; Xavi Hernandez and Diego Simeone.
Another positive thing about his move is that he seems able to attract the star players; really big names such as Donny van de Beek & Dele Alli; who perhaps weren't quite settled at their former clubs; but could certainly make a huge impression at Everton.
Stay tuned.
