Move This Way

Aerosmith released their first-ever live concert DVD in 2004; riding on the coat-tails of their successful Blues-inspired 'Honkin' On Bobo' album. However; truth be told; it was a little disappointing; as they did not quite live up to the hype as one of the greatest rock 'n' roll bands in America.

The concert started off decently enough; with Steven Tyler whipping the crowd into a frenzy as they started off with 'Toys In The Attic'. However; the energy level suddenly hit a low in the next song; which was supposed to be the upbeat 'Love In An Elevator'; with certain members; notably Brad Whitford; kinda showing their age and not looking 'Aerosmith' enough lol.

It was not till the fifth song; 'Cryin''; that Aerosmith really came alive and the crowd went into a frenzy. With its instantly recognisable starting hook and the lilting melody; it remains one of Aerosmith's greatest songs. There were some high moments with 'Jaded' and the classic 'I Don't Want To Miss A Thing'; but it must be said that certain sure-fit hits such as 'Amazing' and 'Hole In My Soul' were surprisingly missing as well.

Overall; it is true that Aerosmith is one of the best sounding bands live; with this concert sound basically the same as on CD; but the lack of showmanship & energy; and failure to engage the crowd; is what will leave this concert a bit disappointed.
