Backed by popular reviews; Elvis is the latest biography to feature the legendary singer Elvis Presley; as befits a Baz Luhrmann show it is outlandish; spectacular and over-the-top.
It tells the story of how Elvis grew up in a poverty-stricken neighborhood; got hooked onto African-American music; and how he hooked up with the legendary manager Colonel Tom Parker;and how he wiggled his way into the hearts & desires of America and the world.
There are some poignant moments; such as when he deals with the loss of his beloved Mom due to alcoholism; how he parts with his wife Priscilla; and the final; never-to-be-forgotten scene of the REAL Elvis Presley doing one of his final concerts; the touching 'Unchained Melody' before his death at age 42.
