Determined Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia served up an upset in the Wimbledon second round against reigning US Open champion & huge home hope Emma Raducanu in straight sets.
Such is Garcia's game that while a heavy hitter at times; she is prone to a lack of consistency; thus giving hope to her opponents. On this occasion however; she had just enough to play off the crucial points well; and you sensed she always seemed to have the advantage over a slightly nervous Raducanu; who did not seem to rise to the occasion and even seemed overawed by the crowd backing.
