What makes it stand out is its brutal honesty; Barker is not shy to share about his exploits; warts and all; and things he is shameful about; such as his failed relationships and various addictions. One of the most riveting parts of the book is the detailed episode of the plane crash in 2008; which nearly claimed his life and in fact did for some of his closest friends.
Perhaps surprisingly; he does not talk all that much about Blink 182; the band he is most famous for; and there are obvious friction amongst the band members; most notably with Tom DeLonge. He is probably happier talking about his other bands such as Aquabats and Transplants. What does stand out however; is his ferocious appetite for hard work and his unbridled drumming talent.
