Eating Air

Michael Jordan is not the greatest basketball player in history He is the greatest athlete in history. As such; it is a worthy movie 'Air' by the irrepressible duo Ben Affleck & Matt Damon that showcases his greatness; right from his time as a College player in North Carolina; to the time Nike decides to bank their fortune on him and turn a tide in history.

The beauty of this movie is how it embraces everything around Jordan; as befits the legendary status of the man; thus using the power of the celebrity to drive the movie. Another huge part is Matt Damon. The actor puts in a magnificent performance as the Nike executive hell-bent on signing Jordan; from his furrowed brows to his portly demeanour; to the iconic speech in the conference room; Damon's acting takes this show to new heights.

Another advantage of the show is its emphasis on detail. I love how it focuses on "The Shot"; which basketball aficionados will know as the shot Jordan made in College to win the NCAA Championship & basically make everyone know about him; and the detail on the ball not going to James Worthy is something not many people on this planet may know. There is even emphasis on Mel Turpin; a less-heralded center that Nike even considered bankrolling before Jordan.

With its captivating sequence of events; compelling story-line and emotional scenes that will make you tear; 'Air' is one of the best movies you will watch this year.
