The latest Netflix thriller is 'Leave The World Behind'; a dystopian, Westworld-like fantasy with an A-list cast of Ethan Hawke; Julia Roberts and Mahershala Ali. While rich in setting & premise; the film ultimately fails to deliver and ends up with such a basic conclusion you end up wondering what the fuss was all about in the first place.
Like a thriller waiting to explode; you keep waiting for that big explosion that never arrives; leaving the viewer to exhale another day lol. Even the top performances of Roberts; Hawke; the charming Ali and even his pugnacious daughter Myha'la fail to save the day. The film also suffers from inadequate spacing; with a rather laborious middle section and certain scenes that end up not really doing much.
At the end of the day, you wind up with a feeling that this film could have been so much more than it was.
