No White Flag

It's strange to feel satisfied after a defeat; but this was almost how I felt as Everton put up a valiant performance to lose 2-1 to a high-flying Tottenham Hotspur side who are now back up to fourth with their third consecutive victory.

Yes we started a little slow and lost our concentration at short corners that led to Spurs' quick-fire two goals; but we never lost confidence and seemed to grow into the match the longer it went on. In fact; our pressing game - short on display in the previous defeat against Fulham - was back on form as Spurs had difficulties playing out from the back.

With Andre Gomes back on form after a long lay-off; Spurs were honestly shitting themselves at the end; as Everton's relentless play towards the end threatened to bring about an unlikely equaliser. In fact; it was almost that as 'Snake-man' Arnaut Danjuma's terrific shot crashed off the crossbar and somehow off Guglielmo Vicario to leave the match in Spurs' ascendancy.
