Wham! Bam! Thank you Ma'am!

Of the latest nostalgic documentaries airing on Netflix; there is perhaps not one more nostalgic than Wham!; the iconic 80s group starring a certain George Michael & Andrew Ridgeley.

This documentary scores well on its fonder moments; it traces way back to their young days; even before Wham! was formed: when Michael & Ridgeley met each other in Primary 6 (12 years old) and became best friends. Like a fairy-tale waiting to happen; their common love for music and unshakable bond created the partnership hat would become Wham!; and their talent was so obvious that a record label came calling soon enough.

What it does not do so well though; is the intimate details behind Michaels' decision to go solo and why they split up; you can sense there is things left unsaid in this portion; apart from the simple 'Michaels had more ambition' adage. What I did like though; is how it touched on the seminal 1984 Band-Aid moment; when a host of superstars banded together for 'Do They Know It's Christmas?'. Like a point so minute yet so important; it affected Michaels greatly when that song (of all others) went to No. 1; thus robbing 'Last Christmas' of that much-vaunted 4th No. 1 hit.
