The spotlight was also on Adam Wharton; the new Palace midfielder highly-rated from Blackburn Rovers; and apart from a few nervy moments; he did impress with his work-rate and some inventive through balls. Another who did impress was Ghana legend Jordan Ayew; who put Palace in front with a sumptuous drive in a hard-fought affair. It was not enough though; as substitute Amadou Onana rose high above the ranks to head home a late equalizer in the 84th minute.

No Jewel In The Palace
In what was largely a must-win game for both sides; the news about Everton v Crystal Palace happened even before the match; with the quite-shocking announcement that long-time veteran manager Roy Hodgson was asked to leave Crystal Palace with immediate effect. It all seemed rather bizarre; as he had single-handedly saved Palace on more than once occasion; and the club seemed in safe hands at about 15th in the league; but they were slipping slightly towards the relegation zone. New manager Oliver Glasner in fact was in the stands watching next to owner Steve Parish; making it an even more surreal night; with Paddy McCarthy overlooking team affairs & Hodgson nowhere to be found.
