This game against their nearest challengers; 2nd-placed Feyenoord Rotterdam; was a good test; not just to see how good they really are; but also to see if they could stretch their lead to 13 points which would be surely insurmountable. So good have PSV been; that some pundits have taken to calling them The Dream Team.
And as top of the table clashes go; this one was as good as it gets. Fighting fire with fire; both teams failed to relent and showed they reason why they are on top of the league. PSV; playing with maximum confidence; struck first through US international Malik Tillman; and it all seemed too easy. However; Feyenoord have proved tough competitors this season; and against all expectations they came back strong to go ahead through Yankuba Minteh & Santiago Gimenez.
Just when it looked like an upset was on the cards; Ajax came back again through substitute Guus Til; who volleyed home accurately after another lovely set-up from iconic striker Luuk de Jong. As it stood; PSV preserved their 24-game unbeaten start to the season; while Feyenoord proved they were worthy challengers.
