30 Seconds To Mars

Bruno Mars had a tough act to follow; coming after the grand triumvirate of concerts involving Coldplay & Taylor Swift; but we have to say he did it with flying colours. Better looking than Chris Martin; and a better dancer than Taylor Swift; Mars brought a unique style & energy that thrilled the thronging crowds at the National Stadium.

It was exactly that dance energy that set him apart; as he started off with a bang with '24K Magic' & 'Finesse'; getting the crowd going with his unique brand of charisma. What I liked about the show was how he bantered with the crowd; and how he got his back-up singers to feature quite heavily in the show; unlike most other artistes.

What did not work so well though; was how he left out some of his big hits such as 'Young Girls' and perhaps more surprisingly; 'Count On Me'; and how he 'de-generated' one of his biggest hits 'Grenade' into a rather warbled piano medley. The rendition of 'Home' also; while supposedly to add some patriotic fervour; did not mesh with the show at all and should very clearly have been left out.

All in all though; it was a good show and testament to why Bruno Mars continues to be one of the biggest stars on the planet; upgrading himself from Indoor Stadium to National Stadium through the years.
