True to form; both teams played out an entertaining spectacle; with neither giving much ground in this vital contest amongst the early pace-setters. It had all looked good for Forest early on; as one-half of their defensive partnership Murillo came up with a textbook header from a Morgan Gibbs-White free-kick routine to put Forest seemingly on the road to another remarkable victory.
It was not to be however; as Eddie Howe's men upped the stakes in the second half. First off; it was in-form Alexander Isak who notched a poacher's' goal after some hesitant defending from a corner. And then it was Joelinton who surged up from midfield to find the net with a left-foot curler. Just when Forest thought they could dome back into it; substitute Harvey Barnes popped up with a typical inside out finish that left the home fans deflated.
It is only Forest's second defeat of the season and it still leaves them in the European places; but on this night; it was Newcastle who proved that their season is coming to the fore.
