Toffees Fail To Find Sweet Spot

The boos at the end of the match told its own story. In normal circumstances; a home draw against high-flying Brentford would have been a good point. This however; was no ordinary circumstance. Everton had raised their form and were largely in control of proceedings in this one. Brentford were also reduced to 10 men after 41 minutes; as captain Christian Norgaard was sent off in a somewhat unfortunate knee-high challenge on Jordan Pickford. To make matters worse; this was actually Brentford's first away point all season; thus showing that Everton perhaps should have taken all 3 points.

While their defence is improving with the return of talisman Jarrad Branthwaite; their attack still looks painfully shy of goals. With their main striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin in a catastrophic run of form and seemingly bereft of confidence; the squad looks rather thin up front; with only new signing Iliman Ndiaye looking capable of troubling the goalscoring update.

In the end though; the match petered out to an inevitable outcome; Everton have now lost just once in 8 Premier League matches; however a flurry of draws have meant they are still only 3 points above the relegation zone. While for Brentford; they can hold their heads high having secured their first away point of the season in adverse circumstances.
