Leaving On A Jet Plane

Cristiano Ronaldo has done a Roy Keane - leaving his team in a huff - just as Portugal were due to take on Denmark in a Nations League qualifier. But the circumstances are quite different. While Keane was not happy with the Republic of Ireland's shambolic training standards; Ronaldo was basically not happy that he was not played - both as a sub against Norway and in the coming one against Denmark.

So what's your take on this? Well my view is that the coach decides whether you play or not - whether you're Cristiano Ronaldo or Altay Bayindir. If you're good enough; u play. If you're not, u don't. That's about it. Of course; different coaches may have different views. Thus while Roberto Martinez might think he is; Jorge Jesus might think he's not.

God knows why Ronaldo was warming up for 30 minutes in the Norway game; but surely he didn't have to when it looked like he was not coming on. And for the Denmark press conference; the manager basically just reiterated the point made above; that he would use him if needed. To be honest; he didn't look very impressive in the recent World Cup and it's quite obvious that his pace, touch and sharpness are a far cry from what they used to be.
