Blue Print

There's gonna continue a raging debate about Arsenal lacking character, after their latest loss to Chelsea by 2-1. If you ask me, I do detect a sense of lack of character and leadership qualities at the Emirates; a lack of drive, determination and fighting spirit in the team. There doesn't seem to be anyone of natural leader potential over there, not Mertesacker, not Walcott and certainly not Podolski. Jack Wilshere, while talented, is still too young and has not shown the required temperament/maturity to develop into that kind of leader.

Gone are the days of Tony Adams, Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry when Arsenal were oozing charisma (remember 'The Untouchables') and winning championships. Chelsea got John Terry, Man Utd got Vidic, Rooney & now van Persie, Man City got Kompany & Yaya Toure, Spurs got Scott Parker & now Clint Dempsey. Who have Arsenal got? Nobody. That's why they're losing all the big games nowadays, and not even in the Champions League places.

I'm just proud that Everton have got an abundance of character. The manager David Moyes, in his eleven years at the club, has now successfully shaped his imprint onto the club, meaning hard work, dedication and team spirit. Players like Tim Howard, Phil Jagielka, Leon Osman, Phil Neville, Tony Hibbert, Marouane Fellaini, Steven Pienaar, Leighton Baines and Nikica Jelavic.... they're all battlers. Everyone works hard for one another. No one gets an easy game against Everton nowadays, home or away. Sometimes it's good to let your manager have a chance to work his philosophy into the club, rather than sack him so soon.
