David Silva, touted by Fulham manager Martin Jol as "probably the best player in the Barclays Premier League", did his best to match that theory with both goals amidst an effervescent display, in champions Manchester City's 2-0 home win over Fulham.
City were comfortable throughout, and having taken just about 93 seconds to open the scoring, were never seriously threatened in this one. Regarding the best player in the Premiership? I would say Silva is definitely there or amongst the top; his movement, vision and silky running are damn pleasing to the eye; and together with Chelsea's tricky threesome of Hazard, Oscar and Mata, they are among the best and most devastating players in the BPL.
It's great that the league has reached such a high standard that you've more or less got really the cream of the crop plying their trade here & exhibiting their stuff. It wasn't that long ago, back in around 1993 when England were no match for the Italian Serie A in being 'the place to be' for all the world's superstars. Heck, England couldn't even qualify for the World Cup in 1994. But I can recall people like Cantona, Ginola, Asprilla making the shift and all of a sudden, the BPL became a runaway train that continues to power on unabated.
