Capital Gain

This morning, we had a trip to Capitaland to understand more about their business and in particular their renowned HR practices. It was a pretty informative sharing session, just that I thought it would have been better if the dialogue session could be longer so more of the participants' questions could have been answered. A particular strength of their HR set-up, I think, is their tracked system of employee training and development and the systematic levels they go through. Very nice and posh office building, I must say, at the heart of the CBD district.

Mr Richard Arvey, a 68-year old American and Singapore Permanent Resident (PR), took us for class today and I enjoyed the group discussion on the leadership styles of various global personalities; not least because my group got the late Korean hardman Kim Jong Il, who I think is one of the most 'interesting' characters around. Let's just say my team didn't have too much trouble dissecting his overall leadership characteristics in terms of Style, Behaviour, Skills & Knowledge, Ethical Management, Management Philosophy, Managerial & Execution Skills and Contemporary Needs.
