I enjoyed today's lecture as well: it was taken by Ms Wu Pei Chuan, a pleasant Taiwanese with a good command of English. Her lilting delivery was interesting and easy on the ear, and I enjoyed both the content and the ambience of the lesson.
1) In addition to IQ (Intelligence Quotient), EQ (Emotional Quotient), OQ (Office Intelligence Quotient), now add one more to the list: CQ (Cultural Expertise Quotient); which I think is important and leads to the consideration of human capital in each country.
2) What's interesting is the difference in various cultural characteristics of each country, for e.g. Institutional Collectivism is high in Singapore, Japan and Sweden but Individualistic qualities are prevalent in Greece and Argentina. There are differences in Performance Orientation and Human Orientation between countries such as Singapore and Greece/Malaysia as well. To succeed in a certain country, you need to understand the cultural dynamics behind that country, and know what makes them tick.
