Swift Riposte

The Taylor Swift bio-documentary 'Miss Americana' on Netflix was a decent attempt at showcasing the singer for who she really is; and seems intent on how she is influencing areas beyond music; such as the political & social world.

It covers some interesting ground; especially the famous 'Kanye West' moment where he grabbed the microphone (rather uninvitedly) at the MTV Video Awards which was unprecedented in history; and how it had a long-lasting damage to the young Swift at that time; which not many people may have known about. It also talks about the sexual harassment case and how she was not willing to just 'grin and bare it' any more; thus signalling her blossoming into adulthood. It also shows her 'milestone' moment when she chose to speak up about politics (when she did not necessarily need to); which could have alienated her viewers but which she felt was the right thing for her principles.

I thought however; that the show could have delved more into her real career; like a real documentary; such as how she started her career; how she developed her songs; and how she soared into super-stardom and all that. I thought there was just so much more material that could have been deeper and explored. It would have been great to delve and understand more about her personality; interests and what makes her tick. It would also have been nice to explore the various 'interesting' relationships she had in her younger years; and even her 'frenemy' relationship with fellow superstar Katy Perry.
