David & Victoria Beckham were in the audience; and we were in Hollywood for Inter Miami's first-ever game; against one of the powerhouses of Major League Soccer (MLS); Los Angeles FC. And credit to them: they never looked out of place; and even had several good chances of their own.
In the end; the experience & cunning of LAFC proved just too much; as their front three of Diego Rossi; Carlos Vela; and Brian Rodriguez proved elusive & threatening all afternoon. And it was the sublime Vela who got the game's only goal; cutting in from the right flank to unleash an audacious chip over the stranded Miami 'keeper Luis Robles.
It was captain Robles who kept Miami in this match; pulling off several splendid saves to thwart the expectant home team. David Beckham's team did have chances of their own; and with promising players such as Rodolfo Pizarro; Matias Pellegrini; and No. 1 draft pick Robbie Robinson; the future seems very bright indeed for the MLS newcomers.
