17th seed Angelique Kerber continued her foray into the US Open third round with another impressive showing; this time against hard-hitter & fellow compatriot Anna-Lena Friedsam. Friedsam actually played pretty well in this one; and was generally at the same level as her more illustrious opponent; but only seemed to fall short at the critical points. Maybe it was the nervousness; lack of game-play or just the lack of quality; but everytime it really mattered; she seemed to fall short. And that was exactly what happened eventually; as Kerber squeezed past the second set tie-break 8-6 to progress through.
