Sun Rises For Osaka

In one of the best matches so far at the US Open; 4th seed & one of the favourites Naomi Osaka of Japan recovered from losing a close second set; to come through in the end 6-3, 6-7(4-7), 6-2 in the Third Round. It looked comfortable enough in the early going; but when the second set came around; it was getting clear that the 18 year-old Marta Kostyuk was not one to be trifled with.

In fact; the young Ukrainian; ranked only world no. 153; displayed some ferocious ground-stokes and cool composure to stun her much-heralded opponent in the second set; eventually wining the tie-break and causing her usually-composed opponent to smash her racket twice on the floor with impressive venom.

In the end though; Osaka just managed to avoid another pitfall of dropping a break in the deciding set; and in the flash of an eye; things turned drastically as she started finding her range and confidence; hitting her trademark winners and improving her first serve to confidently close out the contest.
