In fact; the young Ukrainian; ranked only world no. 153; displayed some ferocious ground-stokes and cool composure to stun her much-heralded opponent in the second set; eventually wining the tie-break and causing her usually-composed opponent to smash her racket twice on the floor with impressive venom.
In the end though; Osaka just managed to avoid another pitfall of dropping a break in the deciding set; and in the flash of an eye; things turned drastically as she started finding her range and confidence; hitting her trademark winners and improving her first serve to confidently close out the contest.
