The City Is Alive

While reading about Kim Cattrall's new show 'Filthy Rich'; it reminded me of the movie Sex And The City; which I had watched recently. Now I know absolutely nothing about Sex And The City; the popular drama series that took place in 1998-2004; thus appeared with some trepidation at the prospect of watching this movie lol.

But what resulted was a tremendous pleasant surprise; with the movie being one of the best that I've ever seen. I loved how it was like an extension of the series; talking about the daily happenings of four good friends in New York City; centred on the impending marriage of their star Sarah Jessica Parker. You know some people say movies should never be based on drama series; as they usually end up flat; well this one definitely excels.

One of the most unforgettable scenes in movie history for me; would be the one where Sarah Jessica Parker drops her mobile phone upon hearing that her beau Mr. Big has suddenly changed his mind about the wedding. There is also another poignant scene near the end where Miranda & Steve meet each other remotely and agree to reunite after earlier marriage issues.

Overall; the plot is ingenious and draws you in; leaving you fully immersed and wanting for more. It is supported by some brilliant acting from not just the four ladies; but also Mr. Big and also Jennifer Hudson as Carrie's ingenious assistant. Which just about reminds me: time to watch the sequel :-)
