A New Low

Joachim Low is under considerable pressure; as his Germany side; once feared by all & sundry and World Champions in 2014; have sunk to an err; new Low after a 6-0 demolition by Spain in the latest round of UEFA Nations League encounters.

Unable to find a consistent team amidst some major chopping-and-changing and squad renewal; his team has put out similarly inconsistent results on the field; with the latest setback meaning Germany have been knocked out in the first round of the last three international tournaments (World Cup 2018; UEFA Nations League 2019 & 2020). Consequently; they have seen their world ranking drop from No. 1 to a lowly No. 14 for German standards.

And the question now falls on: is it right to leave such in-form Bayern Munich players such as Thomas Muller & Jerome Boateng and the unflappable Mats Hummels out? I mean; it's alright for a re-build but these are still players at their peak form if you know what I mean. Surely the best team in the world Bayern Munich can't be wrong.

It has led to question marks and concerns reverberating around the team; such that midfielder Toni Kroos has described this defeat as one of "the worst in his life". No doubt there were key injuries to Joshua Kimmich & Kai Havertz but that doesn't quite explain the whole sad story. Former legend Mesut Ozil has perhaps not surprisingly put the boot in; announcing via social media that it may be "time to call back Jerome Boateng".

Low has a big task on his hand to recover Germany to their former glories; as the highly-anticipated Euro 2020 is coming fast on hand. He has to start finding out his best team & achieve some consistency.
