Interestingly; all the other big European leagues have remained the five-sub rule; except for England where the managers have overall voted against it. Their main claim is that this rule would unfairly benefit the big clubs; since they tend to have greater strength in depth. And also interestingly; it is largely the big clubs who are calling for this measure; saying it would greatly help alleviate player stress & injuries.

Five For Fighting
Frank Lampard is the latest big-name manager to call for the re-introduction of the 5 subs-rule as a counter to the corona-enforced shortened break & heavy schedule. The calls have been climbing ever since a whole raft of injuries have surfaced after the international break; with the shortened calendar; coronavirus woes & European commitments all playing their part.
