Sevilla went ahead through a penalty from the impressive Lucas Ocampos; after Ivan Rakitic was brought down in the area by David Alaba. Bayern managed to equalise with a typically team-orientated goal; Robert Lewandowski setting up Leon Goretzka brilliantly to side-foot home.
The game then settled into an end-to-end affair; with Sevilla arguably having the better chances; notably late in the game when an Alaba mis-kick allowed substitute Youssef En-Nesyri to steam clear on goal with only Manuel Neuer to beat. Alas; the German custodian proved why is the number one in the world with a typically-brilliant stop.
In extra-time; both teams labored to find the elusive winner; and it finally came in the 104th minute when an Alaba shot from a corner was punched out by Yassine Bounou; only for substitute Javi Martinez to head back home for the hero.
