Givin' It The Blues

When Leicester City beat Manchester United 4-2 about a month back; everyone thought Brendan Rodgers' side were back. A swashbuckling display of attacking football; coupled with the emergence of star signing Patson Daka; seemed to signal an end to their uncharacteristically bad start.

Well fast forward to a month later; and it's clear that Leicester are not really back; as encapsulated in this woeful drubbing by league contenders Chelsea on their home patch. The first thing that comes to mind is why isn't James Maddison in the starting line-up? The former sensation seems to have lost his mojo; and his team their collective spark. And playing Boubakary Soumare & Wilfried Ndidi together in central midfield robs the team of much-needed creative flair.

The team as a whole seems to have lost their intensity & desire; as epitomised when N'Golo Kante was allowed the freedom of Rome to run through in midfield and unleash an unerring left-footed drive to make it 2-0.

As for Chelsea; they clearly wanted to make amends from their previous disappointing draw at home to Burnley. And they came in like men on a mission; with standout defender Antonio Rudiger opening affairs with a brilliant flicked header. Even without their two main strikers in Romelu Lukaku & Timo Werner; they have shown an ability to get goals from all over the park. And they seem to be integrating their new youngsters like Callum Hudson-Odoi & Trevoh Chalobah very well. The rest of the league should be very afraid.
