Manchester City continued their ominous march towards a potential title-winning season; this time stamping their authority over a hapless Everton side whose season continued to flounder.
After a bright start; Rafael Benitez's men have hit a poor run of results; with the team now looking bereft of confidence and fight as they slumped to yet another defeat. It is one thing to play defensive and try to 'park the bus'; but it is another to be so negative that you almost cannot break out of your own half; leading to lone striker Richarlison almost losing his discipline and patience.
And so it seemed the inevitable rather tham improbable would happen; when the in-form Joao Cancelo picked out Raheem Sterling with a delicious pass with the outside of his right boot. With so much possession; City were always going to find a way; and Rodrigo's rocket and Bernardo Silva's tap-in were the icing on the cake.
