And the Heat came out like a house on fire; scorching the Clippers from long-range behind the shooting talents of Duncan Robinson & Tyler Herro. They were also boosted by a superhuman effort from Bam Adebayo; who was scoring at will from both inside & out. That led to a 16-point bulge early in the game for the Heat; and it seemed like the tiring Clippers were there for the taking.
However; as they have done all through this fantastic run; the Clippers dug deep & mounted a comeback. As he has done all through the season; superstar Paul George led the comeback; hitting his assortment of shots; highlighted by a whirling derbish dunk move inside the lane that thrilled the Staples. He was ably backed by starting guards Eric Bledsoe & Reggie Jackson; who both came up big with 20+ point performances. Center Ivica Zubac; so pivotal in this latest run; also excelled with 18 points; including a showtime two-handed flush on Bledsoe's feed that brought the house down.
Credit to the Heat though: they stayed true all the way; inspired by the stunning heroics of one Kyle Lowry. The Clippers managed to hang on though; with a last-ditch steal from French Knight Nicolas Batum sealing the win. They are now looking hot; and filling the lofty expectations as true title contenders.
