In this early-season UEFA Youth League match-up between Atletico Madrid & Liverpool; it was the home side Atletico who prevailed with a 2-0 victory; courtesy of goals from midfielders Aitor Gismera & Salim El Jebari.
The good thing about watching the Youth League is you get to see the stars of tomorrow; before they reach household name status, of course. The fields are not as glamorous; the stadiums are not full; but you get to watch a very decent standard of football among generally Under-18 players.
Even though Liverpool started better; it was Atletico who managed to grow into the match & assert their authority. Their standout players were indeed the two goal-scorers; while the curly-haired Javier Curras was certainly influential; whilst for Liverpool; the two left-sided players Owen Beck & James Balagizi had decent outings.
