Well keen insiders would tell you that even tough their record was poor; the Clips were actually playing pretty well. Yes they had a few new pieces to integrate to their roster such as Eric Bledsoe & Luke Kennard; but they were largely getting good shots & just missing them; and their collective team spirit was still pretty decent.
Well what happened following that was the Clippers won their next 3 games (twice on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves) to level their season record at 4-4; and suddenly things were looking up. Paul George was in the form of his life; and their defence had turned up the intensity; forcing opponents to scramble and generally playing Clipper ball.
So when they returned for a 6-game home-stand; things were definitely looking up. Could the Clippers continue their recent resurgence? Well on the benefit of this 120-106 win against the young and exciting Charlotte Hornets; yes they can.
After going back-and-forth throughout the first 3 quarters; it was the hungry Hornets who seemed to take control of the game; with a bevy of circus shots from Kelly Oubre Jr. & reigning Rookie Of The Year LaMelo Ball putting them in prime position.
Then; as has been the story of their season all year long; the Clippers suddenly exploded to life. It seemed like that flagrant foul on Ivica Zubac by Oubre Jr. seemed to wake them up; as they came storming back with an out-of-this-world 22-0 run; led by some circus shots from Reggie Jackson himself. And as the L-I-T trio continued to ignite & Paul George continued his mesmerizing shooting; the Hornets crumbled under the onslaught and suddenly went ice-cold on the floor.
With this seismic win; the Clippers now move above .500 for the first time this season; and are certainly looking hot.
