Philosophy is an important word in football. And you could see Southampton have it in spades; they know exactly how they want to play. The passing game from defence to midfield; utilising the brilliant talents of James Ward-Prowse & Oriol Romeu in the middle; plus the vibrant full-backs in Valentino Livramento and the excellent Kyle Walker-Peters.
On the contrary; Everton looked a team dis-jointed; not able to impose their direction or style on the game. It may not have been a right decision for Frank Lampard to take off Allan at half-time; as Everton's midfield of Andre Gomes & Donny van de Beek seemed to lack bite in the middle; with Gomes not looking quite 'up to it' in the first place.
