Tampines Rovers are almost the forgotten man in Singapore football. Make no mistake: before the privatisation of Home United & the incoming of Albirex Niigata; Tampines were the top dogs in Singapore football; brandishing a Manchester City-style possession game that everyone envied.

And so you could forgive them for trying to hark back to better days. They are certainly trying to find their way back to the top; as can be seen from their recent battling performance against the Sailors; when they only lost to an injury-time winner; flying headbutt and all.

Well if they were trying to continue their upward trajectory; Hougang United had other ideas. The Cheetahs have been going rather well themselves; and are no one's pushovers these days. And so they proved in this entertaining contest; coming up with an superb 4-2 away victory that would have sent eyebrows raising.

The Man-of-the-Match was undoubtedly hardworking winger Kristijan Krajcek; who not only popped up with two goals but provided hockey assists all round. It wan emblematic of a brilliant Hougang team performance; that saw a brilliant long-range strike from Kaishu Yamazaki; that overall negated a two-goal performance from Tampines' league top scorer Boris Kopitovic.
