Is the title race already over? Just two matches into a pulsating season; and the temperatures have already been stoked. Every team is tough nowadays; and nowhere was it made clearer when Crystal Palace drew 1-1 with Liverpool in the first match of the season at Anfield.
No doubt they have injury problems; but the problems at Liverpool continue to mount. A strange nervousness and indecision have permeated their side; leading to them squandering several gilt-edged chances. Just when they needed him most; Darwin Nunez displayed a staggering lack of composure; headbutting Palace's burly Danish defender Joachim Andersen as he took the bait.
I've said it before: but Luis Diaz is the real deal. Showing skill & endeavour in loads; he is a brilliant replacement for Sadio Mane and to me deserves his place in the Ballon d'Or. Cue his brilliant strike for Liverpool when all seemed lost. But is it enough? Can Mane actually be replaced? And can Liverpool regain their swagger?
