Antony is the latest big-money signing in the news; to the tune of Manchester United signing him for a total fee of 85 million pounds. It sounds a bit expensive and desperate on the part of United; but the fact remains that he is a good player who is likely to do well under his ex-manager Erik ten Hag.
Safe to say that Ajax are now making do without him; and while they are continuing to grind out the results; they do look a few bodies short; having also released some of their key players in Ryan Gravenberch; Maarten Stekelenburg; Nicolas Tagliafico & Sebastien Haller.
One player they have brought in though; is former Tottenham Hotspur man Steven Bergwijn and he was outstanding in their recent win at Sparta Rotterdam; looking lively on the left wing and scoring the brilliant winner. While Calvin Bassey looks an excellent signing from Glasgow Rangers; it looks like they may need to bring a few more players in to maintain their dominance of the Eridivisie.
