Six And The City

You might be forgiven in thinking that the gap in the Manchester Derby could be getting closer. United after all had won their previous four games; beating Liverpool & Arsenal in convincing fashion; and looked to have regained some of their mojo.

After this display though; you can quite affirmatively say it has not. From first minute to last; it looked like there was only one team in it; as City passed and carved open the United defence seemingly at will; while United struggled to get any fluency and rhythm going in their game.

Kevin de Bruyne may well be the best midfielder in the world at the moment; and it was he who provided the prompt & panache; continuing to put in balls at the most dangerous position that a team-mate can do damage. Manuel Akanji looks like a seamless fit in the side; while Sergio Gomez looks a more than useful addition at left-back.

For United; once again too many players were off-color. Christian Eriksen looked a liability in defence; while too many of the players were off-range with their passing. They also didn't seem to possess the fire and heart that usually comes with these fixtures. Even Antony's firecracker and Anthony Martial's two late goals couldn't quite save the day.
