There was a time when Tatum & Brown were just starting out; and you could see the raw potential in them; however; there was just not enough maturity in their play at that time; and you could almost ache for them to reach their potential. Well, that time is now as sure enough; they have blossomed into that athletic; unstoppable duo they promised to be.
But I think equally key to their success is the presence of Jrue Holiday. Seldom has there been a smarter acquisition for a championship-chasing team. Having won the title with the Milwaukee Bucks; Holiday provides that unique brand of leadership & toughness that all championship teams need. As a result; Boston were in that unique position of becoming even stronger after trading away Marcus Smart; as Holiday is just as good on defence but slightly better in offence. Kristaps Porzingis is another key acquisition for them; with his unique 7'3" outside-range skill-set adding another dimension to the Celtics that is tough to guard.
The Celtics have opened the season with an unbelievable 18-0 record at their vaunted Boston Garden; the best start ever for their franchise. That even surpasses the record of the 1985-86 Boston Celtics; widely regarded as the greatest basketball team ever with the Larry Brid; Kevin McHale & Robert Parish dynamic. With such strong home form and top seeding; it will take a brave man to bet against the Celtics this coming June.
