Truly Asia

The world is changing. Previously talked only in hushed tones; the Asian version of the World Cup has now come into the forefront. And with good reason too. Previously regarded as minnows on the world stage; countries such as Japan; South Korea & Australia are now world-beaters in their own right. Never was this better espoused than in Japan's recent 4-1 demolition job at Germany that changed the face of football & sacked renowned coach Hansi Flick for good measure.

With 24 teams participating in this glorious tournament; it promises to be a grand occasion for the world stage. The favourites are probably Japan; with their tantalising brand of football proving too much to bear on many occasions; and now boasting the likes of world-beaters in ex-Real Madrid's Takefusa Kubo & Brighton & Hove Albion's standout Kaoru Mitoma.

But what about South Korea? Amazingly; they have not won the title since the 1960s; amazing considering they have always been Asia's best team. With some of the world's best players in Son Heung-Min; Hwang Hee-Chan and Kim Min-Jae; this could be the year they finally break through. Other favorites include Australia; buoyed by a successful showing at the last World Cup; and hosts Qatar; who are the defending champions and will be keen to make up for a poor showing at the last World Cup. Sardar Azmoun-powered Iran & Argentina-beaters Saudi Arabia have always been ranked around Asia's best and will also be fancying their chances. It all comes down to an exciting tournament where the teams have never been closer; and thee stakes never been higher.
